DeRidder City Council Discusses Millage Rates for 2022

DeRidder City Council met at 5:30 p.m. Monday, July 12, 2021. Ordinances were passed to adjust the millage rate for police and fire operations (2.74 mills) and general alimony (7.62 mills), and to roll forward the millage rates. The public hearings are set for Monday, July 26, 2021, in the regularly scheduled meeting. An ordinance was authorized to allow the city to contract with Total Construction of DeRidder for repairs to the damaged restroom roof at Bryant Park. Resolutions were approved: Naming Beauregard Daily News as the official journal for the city of DeRidder FY 2021-2022; Approve issuance, sale, and delivery by the industrial development board of the city of DeRidder not exceeding $18,000,000 of its taxable industrial revenue bonds and making application to the state bond commission regarding the Stine LLC project that would build a new structure behind the current store. Dennis and Wendy Stein as well as Jay Delafield addressed the council about the project. Two ordinances were introduced: Accepting the dedication of Johnny Joe Lane in the Memorial Park Subdivision (Public Hearing July 12), and Allowing Allie Trahan and Courtney Veillion to place a mobile home at 325 Ken Williams St. upon purchase of the property (Public Hearing July 26).
