A circuit court judge affirmed a hearing examiner’s findings of fact Monday in the case of a mother, Megan Steever, who attempted to sue the Sioux Falls School District over boundary changes that will send her third grader to George McGovern Middle School in the future, and not to Memorial Middle School.
Second Judicial Circuit Court Judge Jon Sogn affirmed independent hearing examiner Robert Anderson’s ruling in the district’s favor from January, saying the board and district did not act unreasonably, arbitrarily or otherwise abused its discretion in the boundary change issue.
Boundary changes are “seldom, if ever, met with unanimous approval,” Sogn said.
