Lancaster election May 10; contests for selectman, Planning Board, FinCom

There are several contests on the ballot to be decided on the Monday, May 10 election, many with names familiar in town for years or even generations - but also some relative newcomers. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. in Lancaster Town Hall (not the municipal office building). Contested races include a three-year seat on the Board of Selectmen, two, three-year seats on the Finance Committee, and a two-year seat on the Planning Board, with the five-year seat on the Planning Board subject to a write-in campaign. Every candidate vowed to work better with town departments, employees and volunteers as a priority.

The Memorial Day celebration at Eternal Valley Memorial Park aims to bring the community together to celebrate, honor and remember America’s heroes who gave their lives in the line of duty, according to event organizers. “It’s an important event for our city to take a pause and remember what it really stands for,” said David Jackson, Army veteran and vice president of the Santa Clarita Memorial Day committee. “Servicemembers, men and women who have served our country who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.”

Plans in the works for Radnor Memorial Day parade

RADNOR — After getting canceled last year due to the pandemic, plans are in the works for this year’s annual Memorial Day parade in Wayne. At a recent meeting of the Radnor Board of Commissioners, township officials and the committee that organizes the annual event said plans are in the works for the 2021 event. Bill White, township manager, said over the past few weeks the Memorial Day Committee has been preparing for this year’s parade as they have in most other years. - Advertisement - Last year’s parade was canceled due to the pandemic, but there was a ceremony attended by a few dozen people at the township’s war memorial in on South Wayne Avenue.
