As Gov. Charlie Baker Wednesday announced a new mass COVID-19 vaccination site in Dartmouth, Cape officials voiced their disappointment at the lack of a similar site in Barnstable County. Cape Cod is clearly being left behind here in the COVID vaccine rollout, State Sen. Julian Cyr (D-Truro) said during a Thursday morning COVID-19 Task Force briefing. I’m frustrated, I’m disappointed, and I m frankly pretty enraged. We need a mass vaccine distribution site on Cape Cod…or adequate supply.
Bruce Murphy, Yarmouth Health director, echoed the senator s increasingly vocal pleas to the state to prioritize Cape seniors.

The Barnstable County Commissioners passed a resolution yesterday calling for Governor Charlie Baker to open a mass Covid-19 vaccination site on Cape Cod immediately.
The Cape has seen several regional vaccine clinics all quickly fill up, including ones being held this week at the Cape Cod Fairgrounds in Falmouth and the Melody Tent in Hyannis.
Officials said during a public phone briefing that additional vaccination clinics are coming in Orleans, Truro and Eastham.

HYANNIS – Diane and Lucien Poyant of Hyannisport didn’t know there was a COVID-19 vaccination clinic on the grounds of the Cape Cod Melody Tent in Hyannis until they drove past it Monday.
After calling a number at Cape Cod Healthcare, which is hosting the clinic, they got an appointment for Tuesday morning and joined a long line of cars snaking down Scudder Avenue past the West End Rotary.
The Poyants, both 83, said they were thrilled and relieved to stumble upon the opportunity to get their first shots.
“We’ve been trying everything CVS and all that stuff,” Lucien said. “We can’t thank (Cape Cod Healthcare) enough.”
