A Fayetteville man was ejected from his car and killed during an early morning traffic crash Friday, the Fayetteville Police Department said.
James Lee Quigley, 31, of the 100 block of Bella Vista Circle, was driving a 2005 Buick LaCrosse at the time of the crash just before 5 a.m. Friday, according to a Police Department news release.
According to police, Quigley s vehicle collided with a concrete embankment at the I-295 off-ramp and Raeford Road. He was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene, the release said.
Two men from out of state were arrested in Cumberland County after deputies found approximately 36 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $100,000 on Monday, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff s Office.
Deputies arrested Teddy Asiamah, 43, of Buffalo, New York, and Patrick Hawkins, 48, of Webb, Mississippi, the Sheriff s Office said in a news release. They face charges of trafficking by possession of drugs, trafficking by transport and conspiracy to traffic marijuana. They were each given bail set at $15,000, according to the release.

The following victims suffered injuries that were not life-threatening:
• Shelia Bullard, 49, of Maxton
• Catalina Bullard, 29, of Lumberton
• A 17-year-old victim from Lumberton
• A 7-year-old was struck in the face by Locklear causing minor injuries, according to the release.
Locklear faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, first-degree burglary, first-degree kidnapping, assault inflicting serious injury in the presence of a minor and assault on a child under 12, the release said. His bail was set at $1,335,000.

Thousands of mourners gathered just outside Fayetteville on June 6 to celebrate the life of a man whose death in police custody in Minneapolis had gripped the nation.
The private family memorial service and public viewing for George Floyd, who was born in Fayetteville, was held at the Cape Fear Conference B Headquarters in Raeford.
People stood in line for hours to walk past the gold casket with a spray of red roses on top that held Floyd’s body. The lines snaked throughout the parking lot, and traffic along U.S. 301 stretched for miles.

J. Cole shoots a Puma commercial in Fayetteville
On a cold afternoon in January, rapper J. Cole was in town to film a Puma commercial at the basketball court near Walker Spivey Elementary School. Cole signed a multi-year footwear and apparel deal with Puma, and the commercial debuted in mid-February.
Firefighters save Fayetteville family dog
Firefighters saved the life of a family dog while responding to a fire in the 1100 block of Vesper Lane on Jan.15. When firefighters arrived, they found the dog unconscious and removed it from the home. Firefighters resuscitated the dog by using a pet mask.
