Fugitive businessman Mehul Choksi, who was arrested on May 26 for alleged illegal entry to the Caribbean island country was denied bail by a magistrate court in Dominica on Wednesday. He pleaded not guilty saying that he was abducted and forcibly brought to Dominica from neighbouring Antigua and Barbuda.
"It is possible for Dominica to deport Mehul Choksi to India as he has no legal rights in Dominica. But he alleged before the court that he was kidnapped and brought to a third country (Dominica) against his will. Now the court will decide his deportation,” ex-CBI director Singh said.
Mehul Choksi's brother paid Dominican opposition leader to spread lies: Report - The sources said Chetan Chinu Bhai Choksi had met Linton on May 30, where they discussed several aspects related to Mehul Choksi's arrest.
Mehul Choksi, who has been staying in in Antigua and Barbuda since 2018 after taking citizenship in 2017 under the Citizenship by Investment programme, reportedly fled to Dominica on May 23. He, however, was caught on May 26.
