The negotiated agreement won immediate praise from an obviously pleased Hillman, who called it a win-win. Ultimately, I think I m going to take the view that this reflects a good faith effort by the county, whatever mistakes may have been made in the past, to move forward and put in place the best jail the county can run under the difficult circumstances we all face, Hillman said. And I think having a monitor here makes a lot of sense in trying to achieve that goal. Ultimately, it also reflects, I think, a reasonable perspective from the plaintiffs, Hillman said. I was struck a couple of times how some of the complaint forms or even in the testimony a prisoner would say, I know this is a jail but. And I think this will go a long way addressing the buts, the things that arise that have caused concern.
Each site will be state-run, according to officials. But with a goal of vaccinating as many as 2,400 residents a day at each location, the state will need help. And the counties are prepared to offer it, officials said.

I have very fond memories of the pharmacy and the Sheppard’s. My mother always said how much she loved Virgil and that he was the first outside of my parents to hold me when I was born. Condolences to the family – Mr. and Mrs. Sheppard are, to us old West Seattlelites, staples of what West Seattle was!
Martha “Marty” McLaren, a past West Seattle/South Park representative on the
Seattle Public Schools Board of Directors, has died. Ms. McLaren, a Puget Ridge resident, was 76 years old. She was a longtime educator and community advocate, but her highest-profile role was that of board member. She won election in 2011 by unseating incumbent
Steve Sundquist and then four years later was unseated herself by current board member
Leslie Harris. We talked with Ms. McLaren after her election in 2011; she spoke of her teaching career following her involvement with advocacy as a PTA leader while her children were in school. More details on her life are in her obituary, which we’ve just received:
here. i m from south carolina, it s not hot. we re from england and we think this hot weather is a little too hot for us. under the midday sun, the temperature on the national mall registered 105 degrees. when i was growing up, all we could do was put the windows up, put the fan on and basically sleep in our underwear. even 9 news photographer registered a skin temperature of 94 degrees. so with a poster board, a sharpie, and a colleague with a good sense of humor, we solicited your memorable hot weather stories. my wife would decide to go for the walk and about 400 meters and were in running shoes and that was the scariest feeling in my life. the bus that i usually catch home was not running, so i had to walk 2 miles and it was horrible. and my shoe broke. we went up into the mountains in the middle of summer and it wasn t all that far. we got caught in the middle of a snowstorm. our infrared thermometer registered 111.8 degrees and my hard working colleagues
