Park County Animal Shelter Closes for Move to New Forever Home

Park County Animal Shelter Closes for Move to New Forever Home Written by Andrew-Rossi on March 4, 2021  You might want to hold off on taking that stray dog or cat into the Park County Animal Shelter, as they spend the next week on the move to the new location. As the new facility is ready for its new occupants, shelter staff decided to close their operation temporarily. This makes it easier for the staff and shelter animals as they move into the new building. The plan was to close the shelter on Thursday, March 4. After one of their cats came down with a stomach bug, the shelter decided to close one day earlier than expected. As of Wednesday, the shelter is closed to the public at this time.

Skillet, the face of Park County Animal Shelter, passes away from cancer

Every organization needs a face - that special someone that embodies the spirit and mission of the people who work towards a brighter future. For the Park County Animal Shelter, that face was an elderly white pit bull named Skillet. Skillet, who passed away last weekend at the age of 13, had been rejected by families twice before becoming a permanent resident of the Park County Animal Shelter in 2017 - the same year that he was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Executive Director Megan McLean says the Shelter decided to keep him as their mascot in order to give him the best life possible.
