dana: ethan epstein, thank you very much. the states where marijuana is legal are getting fired up after a warning that the feds will enforce drug loss. states worry sales from pot could go up in smoke. reporter: yeah, dana, we all know drugs can be addicted. so can the tax money derived from the sale of the drugs. look at what the states are taking insofar. washington state, $831 million. colorado right behind followed by oregon and california, which just got started, is expected to haul in $1 billion a year. that money is funding the most basic government programs. in washington state over half is going to medicade. it s softening the bug hit from obama care. colorado and oregon use it to build schools and pay for teachers and their pensions. oregon also pay force public safety by hiring state troopers with pot money. lawmakers, even ones who voted against legalization, admit

conservatives like a paul ryan, who was always for spending cuts, economics hasn t really changed. politics has. they re trying to do the best they can within this environment. you raise a really important point. when we have a big debt, they said that s why we need to cut medicare and medicade and education. they wanted spending cuts because of the debt. turns out it wasn t because of the debt. now they re willing to finance tax cuts and increase the debt. dana: people could say oh wow democrats are now concerned ab the deficit. that can go back and forth. i have been concerned about the deficit for a long time. dana: i know you have. are you concerned about this news this morning from donna brazile about the dnc and hillary clinton s campaign, being involved, possibility of this exacerbating what is a democratic party civil war as republican civil war wages on
