insulin. i had no idea she was rations. she did try to get help. because of her income, because of mom s income, she could not get extra help. she was kicked off medicade because of her income. so at this point, how does americans become eligible? dana: diabetes one of the big diseases that s overwhelming for a lot of people. i wonder what you thought today. we ve heard thoughts like that. lot of people struggle to pay for drugs including insulin. if you have diabetes you need to use it chronically. we will be changing the way we regulate insulin. insulin is regulated as drugs. we re going to be moving them over to our biologics program. we re going to open them up to competition. competition from generics. we re going to be doing this in a way where the existing drugs aren t going to be conferred with exclusivity but some of the ways companies have been accused
about healthcare. take a listen. voters have delivered a resounding verdict against congressional republicans attacks on medicare, medicade and the affordable care act and people with preexisting conditions and districts everywhere in america. they went in a new direction. dana: for something the republicans can do to try to get back on track on health care so americans think they have a plan? first of all, there aren t any republican attacks on medicare or social security. that s all democratic fantasy that they spin dana: every cycle. with regard to health care, it s not working well. this is obama care. it s not working well. american people are seeing a dividing government. democrats now have some responsibility. i think what they re saying to us is you guys get together and figure out a way to improve the health care system.
he should be absolutely ashamed of himself. as a result of his political ambitions, he did not take the medicade money that the federal government provided. that s $1.1 billion that was left on the table. that s extraordinary amount of money. reporter: democratic candidate tony evers likes to take jabs at governor walker saying i m not running for president saying people running for wisconsin are his ultimate priority. we talked to the governor. he said if he successfully wins a third term, he would not seek reelection for a fourth term. dana? dana: thank you. now let s head south to georgia where brian kemp and stacey abrams are pulling out all the stops in one of the nation s closest governors races. jonathan? reporter: hi, dana. brian kemp is doing a fly around tour of the state visiting
for a look at some other issues on the ballot, i m joined by josh altick, project director for the ballot measures project. take me through some of the big ones. i have been following the medicade expansion one. tell me about that. yeah. that s an interesting trend this year. it actually started in 2017. before 2017 we hadn t seen a single citizen initiative designed to expand medicade coverage even though that was available to the states for a long time. very interesting trend. now there are five states voting on even measures to expand medicade or to give some sort of funding for the state s portion which is increasing. dana: that has also become a national issue as welsh because that is a national funded program. federal taxpayers pay into that. you re in denver. everyone knows i have spent a lot of my youth there. went to college in pueblo. marijuana legalization happened. that is on the ballot in many states. tell me about that. yeah. the interesting thing for me in
