Letter to the Editor - Supports Warrant Articles #21 and #22

Reply Dear Editor, I am a concerned citizen of 29 years, a former warrant committee member, soccer board member and proud parent of three MHS grads. I am a strong supporter of the diligent work done by Medfield Energy Committee and the two articles (21 and 22) that they ve proposed for TM. Re: 21, residential and commercial utility customers in Medfield would gain – at their discretion – the ability to aggregate demand with other customers, thus providing the ability to negotiate lower rates and/or obtain the energy from cleaner sources. Under this well-structured plan, customers would be able to opt-out with no penalty. NO DOWNSIDE! We ve all been tied into monopolistic utility structures for so long, this leads to a simple question: why wouldn t we vote to provide ourselves with more cleaner and cheaper options?

Medfield Selectmen discuss Town Meeting warrant articles

Medfield Selectmen discuss Town Meeting warrant articles Wicked Local MEDFIELD – Ways the town could save on electricity costs, as well as how best to commit to a net zero plan, topped Board of Selectmen’s discussions at its April 20 meeting. Articles 21 and 22 of this spring’s Town Meeting Warrant are sponsored by the Medfield Energy Committee; Article 21 asks the town to join a Community Choice Aggregation Program. Supporters of this article tout the potential for cost savings, and available options to customers to purchase energy from renewable sources. Residents would have an opt-out option. Article 22 asks the town to create a plan that would eliminate or offset all greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. If approved, the town would begin to develop a net zero action plan by March 2022.

Medfield Letters to the Editor: I support aggregation warrant article

Wicked Local To the Editor: I attended the recent online forum held on March 31 about Consumer Choice Aggregation that will be a warrant article in the upcoming Medfield Town Meeting in May.  I have to say that I learned a lot about this topic, which I really appreciated because this is something I knew very little about.  The forum was hosted by Medfield Environment Action and the Medfield Energy Committee, and the main presenter was from Green Energy Consumers Alliance all people who know what they are talking about.  Basically, CCA is a way for the town to do bulk-buying of electricity, thus saving money, and that electricity is from green renewable sources in New England.  In short, this plan would overall save cost, and very importantly, help against climate change.

Learn about net zero options for Medfield s Dale Street School project

Common Content On Thursday, Feb. 25, at 7 p.m., the Dale Street Sustainability Subcommittee of the Dale Street School Building Committee and the Medfield Energy Committee will hold a community forum on the energy efficiency options for the new school.  Hear from Arrowstreet, the Dale Street School architect, about the design considerations to be made over the next two months related to energy efficiency and net zero emissions.   This is an opportunity to learn about the environmental concepts and design considerations so that when the technical analysis, first cost, lifetime cost and savings data are available, there is community understanding of the concepts.
