JOHOR BARU, Jan 11 The Johor Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has detained a man on suspicion of being involved in corruption activities related to the meat cartel issue.
It is understood that the 55-year-old man, who is a delivery agent, was arrested at the Johor MACC office at about 8 this evening to assist in the investigation according to Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 9 Frozen meat supplier Raihanah Cold Storage Sdn Bhd is mulling a RM50 million lawsuit against Umno blogger Datuk Zaharin Mohd Yasin for defamation over a Facebook post linking the company’s complicity in the alleged smuggling of ‘non-halal’ meat.
Lawyer Datuk Mohd Haaziq Pillay, who represented the company, said the RM50 million lawsuit involved allegations made by Zaharin in a Facebook post, in which the accompanying caption of the post appeared to suggest that the company and his clients were involved in selling meat which is “haram” under Islamic principles.

JOHOR BARU, Jan 7 Two officers from the Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services Department (Maqis) have been arrested by state graftbusters today in connection with the so-called “meat cartel” scandal.
The suspects, aged 27 and 31, were detained to assist in investigations at the Johor Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) office here at 11pm last night.

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 6 Fewer people are buying red meat these days at Aeon, one of Malaysia’s biggest chain supermarkets following a scandal late last year that has cast doubt over the halal status of imported meats.
