private sector approach, like a businessman and say, let s evaluate what we have cause many of these government programs overlap each other and then let s consolidate and instead of having five different programs that do the same damn thing, why don t we put them together and then make some real cuts that make some real sense and then take out the meat ax. okay, we ll keep hoping for that, thanks, guys. pushing to make illegals legal. and pot legal. reports say that s how unions are trying to push up their memberships. so who are they looking out for? america or themselves? the best thing that could happen. some of the things are draconian. there are a lot of cuts that might be surprising and fbi agents and cuts in treatment to the mentally ill and cuts in food inspection. irs agents. you know, brenda, some cuts are better than no cuts, i ll give you that, but this is no solution, it was supposed to be a backup plan for doing something smart and it is to the speaker s point, arbitrary, a bit of a meat ax and doesn t cut enough. and it will seem like we solved the problem like we did with the tax, but yet the budget deficit will not go away under any form of the decade. it s got cuts and arbitrary and some things cutting, irs agents, yeah, going to save salary that year, but going to do less audits and more treasures to the salary. this doesn t save necessarily anything for the government if it s arbitrary cuts. you ve got to be careful about the larger cuts that don t hurt revenue earnings
precisely at a time of rising instability across the globe. this is no way to govern the united states of america. this budgetary crisis creates uncertainty. it creates doubt and most importantly from my point of view, it undermines the men and women in uniform who are willing to put their lives on the line in order to protect this country. those planned budget cuts are part of the sequestration deal agreed to by congress as part of annest to force compromise on the national debt. house speaker john boehner says although he opposes the automatic cuts, republicans are not willing to back a plan that involves new tax revenue as the president has called for. i don t like the sequester. i think it s taking a meat ax to our government. a meat ax to many programs and it will weaken our national
american cannot take advantage of, to raise the revenue, to actually do the job in a way that allows us to continue to grow. now, the reason this is relevant is because i gather and i haven t gotten this from first-hand sources, but from second hand sources in the press that our friends on the other side of the aisle, their position is we re concerned about the sequester. we recognize that just cutting the federal spending with the meat ax as opposed to scalpel is probably damaging and will damage our national security and will damage our educational system, will have kids getting kicked off of head start. it will mean people who have disabled kids. they recognize that the sequester is a bad idea, but what they ve suggested is that the only way to replace it now is for us to cut social security, cut medicare, and not
pie. the cuts are the big part of the pie in long-term debt, and democrats still don t want to talk about it. they still don t want to put a budget out. the president still doesn t want to tell the truth about medicare. he still doesn t want to tell the truth about medicaid, about social security. i mean, this isn t a small part of saving america. lowering spending over the next generation is a huge part of saving america. look, one of the tragedies of what s been going on down there is we have been cutting but we ve been cutting indiscriminately. we ve been whacking with a meat ax and cutting programs like infrastructure, education, r&d. we re not cutting where the money is. and we re not cutting where the money is. nobody really wants i don t want to cut medicare, but we ve got to deal with medicare if we re going to get this budget deficit under control. but frankly, look. the president and the republicans are playing their cards close to their vests. republicans are saying
