even as the threat of a north korea missile test looms during this visit. all this is a balancing act as russia s war in ukraine hangs over the white house. today in another public show of support, the president met with leaders of finland and sweden as they pushed to join nato, a historic step as more countries unite against russia and condemn its invasion. the big question here is can turkey get on board? we are following all the headlines out of ukraine and the state of play there. first, let s start at the white house and we are joined now. arlette, tell us more about the president s message and his mind set as he s embarking on this. he s flying to asia for his first trip to the region as president. officials said he had hoped to get there earlier in his presidency, but was constrained due to covid-19 and other crises such as the war in ukraine. but the president will be traveling to both south korea and japan to meet with the leaders of each of the countries as well a
night. the marquee race clearly is this one in pennsylvania in the keystone swing state of pennsylvania. you have dr. oz versusday mccormick versus kathy barnett. the top three on the gop side to replace senator pat toomey who is retiring. many scratched their heads over how the pennsylvania gop party oversaw this whole thing and why they would have allowed it to become a battle, a three-way battle. they each have 20% in the layest polls. now it s down to the wire on the gop side. early on, a big battle for the nod from the former president. that went to dr. oz. that was a move that some conservatives said was a mistake. tonight we ll see who is right about the dr. oz pick on the part of the former president. on the democrat side, the person that hopes to flip that senate seat from republican to democrat is john fedderman. he s in the hospital with a stroke said to be recovering. he won t be there for tonight s big celebration if that s what he has to celebrate this evening.
