With no rain likely in store this week, the mercury level has gone up in the national capital. The maximum temperature has once again reached 40 degrees Celsius in Delhi.
After 13 days, the maximum temperature dipped below 40 degrees Celsius in Delhi on Tuesday. The mercury levels are further expected to drop to 35 degrees Celsius by Sunday.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Delhi amid the rise in the maximum temperature. On Monday, the maximum temperature settled at 46.4 degrees, five notches above normal, at Najafgarh.
Delhi recorded an increase in the maximum temperature on Sunday with the mercury rising to 44.2 degrees Celsius in several parts of the national capital. However, some rainfall is expected to bring some respite from the scorching heat in the next few days.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted thundery development and gusty winds up to 30 kmph for Delhi on Wednesday. A heatwave is unlikely in Delhi for a week.
