Mobile APSO’s ‘56 Days of Blessing’ helps Alabama community this spring

Alabama Power Customer Service Representative Vivian Ballard put her fishing skills to good use through the 56 Days of Blessing project sponsored by the Mobile Chapter of the Alabama Power Service Organization (APSO), allowing her to give a nice donation in support of Mobile nonprofit groups. Numerous employees sacrificed some of their favorite indulgences to give to Mobile APSO, helping raise nearly $2,000 to help the less fortunate in their community. (Vivian Ballard / Alabama Power)

Mobile emergency center McKemie Place hosts ribbon cutting

A Mobile emergency center for women held a ribbon cutting last Friday for their new location, which will help the organization continue to help out women in need.
Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson posted about the ribbon cutting for McKemie Place on his Facebook page, praising the organization for helping out the community.

McKemie Place first opened back in March of 2007 as the only emergency overnight shelter for unaccompanied women in Southwest Alabama. This is still the case more than 10 years later.
