Noles Head to Last Chance Invite

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Members of the No. 21/24 Florida State swimming and diving teams will be racing at the UGA Last Chance Invite in Athens, Ga., at the Gabrielsen Natatorium form Feb. 25-26. “We’re excited to see some more fast swims,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said. “We’ll see if we can get a couple more to NCAAs, including that women’s 200 free relay.” Prelims will start at 10 a.m., both days, while finals will begin at 5 p.m. on Saturday and 4 p.m. on Sunday. Noles Paced by Career Bests on Day Four of ACCs

Results  ATLANTA, Ga. – The 2022 ACC Swimming and Diving Championships continued Friday at the McAuley Aquatics Center with the No. 21/24 Florida State swimming and diving teams represented in four championships heats.   The No. 24 women were led by captain Nina Kucheran, who placed fourth in the 100 breast behind a personal best of 59.04 and freshman Edith Jernstedt placing seventh in the 200 fly with a time of 1:55.80.  Mason Herbet took seventh in the 100 back (46.43), but later turned in his career best while leading off the 400 medley relay at 45.85. Yanchev, Kucheran Set FSU Records on Day Two of ACCs

Results ATLANTA, Ga. – The No. 21/24 Florida State swimming and diving teams saw two school records fall on the second day of the 2022 ACC Swimming and Diving Championships at the McAuley Aquatics Center. Yordan Yanchev established a new mark in the men’s 500 free at 4:14.16, taking down one of the oldest swimming records in the books, set by Kyle Young back in 2009 at 4:14.60. Nina Kucheran lowered her 200 IM record to 1:56.68 after she set the standard back in November at 1:57.56. “Both Nina and Yordan had great days,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said. “Nina had two awesome swims and looks set up for her best events later this week. Yordan really attacked tonight and dropped six seconds from the morning swim. It’s pretty exciting that he took down one of our oldest records.”

Vargas, Helling Shine in ACC Final

ATLANTA, Ga. – The No. 21/24 Florida State swimming and diving teams opened competition at the 2022 ACC Swimming and Diving Championships on Tuesday at the McAuley Aquatics Center. Men’s divers David Vargas and Jesco Helling highlighted the evening by competing in their first ACC Championship final, while the men’s 800 free relay achieved an NCAA standard. “It was a great first day for us,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said. “The men getting the NCAA cut in the relay was big and our ladies had a very strong swim. Two divers in the top eight was also great. We’re excited for the rest of the week.”

This will be the first time the ACC will host the men’s and women’s swimming and diving meets in the same week. “We’re very excited to get started at ACCs,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said. “Competing together at this meet is huge for us since we’re a team that thrives off each other. This is what we’ve worked for all year. We’re in a good spot and we can’t wait to get started. It’s going to be an incredible team atmosphere and that’s when we’re at our best.” All sessions will be broadcast via the ACC Network Extra.
