Ghaziabad: Farmers protesting at UP Gate on Thursday alleged the elderly, women and disabled were among people still receiving notices from Delhi Police in connection with the Republic Day tractor parade violence. At a press conference called to denounce the notices, farmers’ representatives said it was another tactic to create fear in the minds of those protesting against the Centre’s three new farming laws.
“It is a condemnable act by the authorities. All the notices and cases will be handled by the lawyers of the (Samyukt Kisan) Morcha,” said Jagtar Singh Bajwa, a spokesperson.
Sharing some of the notices, Bajwa added, “If Delhi Police goes to arrest any farmer in a village, then the police personnel will not be allowed to go till local police and administration officials arrive there. At the same time, villagers should ensure nothing untoward happens.”
