BUT SOME PEOPLE SAY IT’S BEEN ABOUT A WEEK SINCE THEY’VE HAD ANY WATER AND THEY’RE GETTING TIRED OF WAITING. THERE’S NOTHING IT HAS BEEN PROBABLY THE MOST CHALLENGING THING I’VE EVER GONE THROUGH BRANDY HIGGINS IS TALKING ABOUT NOT HAVING WATER FOR A FULL WEEK. WE’VE BEEN DRIVING TO THE TRUCK STOP TO TAKE A SHOWER AND AND WE’VE JUST BEEN MAKING NEW ACCORDING TO MAYOR MATT WHITE THE 40 OF EL RENO IS IN THE SAME SITUATION AS BRANDY WHEN PEOPLE WERE RUNNING THE WATER TO KEEP THEIR THEIR LINE FROM FREEZING WHICH THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN DOING IT JUST DRAINS EVERYTHING OUT AND PEOPLE LIKE BRANDY OR LOSING THEIR PATIENCE AND WANTING A TIMELINE. A Tuesday morning rolling blackout by OG&E led to a citywide water outage in El Reno, city officials said.
Water has since been restored; however, Mayor Matt White tells News 9 it will be some time before service is completely restored as pressure needs to build back up again.
The outage caught city employees off guard.
“We’re trying to do the best we can, and we are,” said White. “But if we had a little bit of notice that only would have helped not only our citizens, but our water.”
Generators and pumps turned on, White said, however they cannot provide the same pressure as the main operation can at El Reno Water Works.
