MANGALURU: Following numerous complaints regarding the complicated renewal process of trade licences, Mayor Diwakar on Wednesday directed officials to make the process simple and people-friendly. Chairing his last ordinary council meeting, the mayor took note of the objections regarding the process directing officials to accept old property tax receipts vice new and also give time to provide additional documents required for the renewal process. Commissioner Akshy Sridhar said aggrieved could directly contact him at his office if they still faced issues regarding renewal. Corporator A C Vinayraj said due to the new system only 1000 renewals were done in the Fen=bruary month compared to 15,000 last year during the same period.
