Asheboro s Downtown Streatery took place on March 20, inviting residents to live music and socially distanced activities in response to the pandemic. However, what was meant to rejuvenate the local economy resulted in a negative impact for some, as certain businesses struggled due to the temporary closure blocking customers from their services on Sunset Avenue and Fayetteville Street.
The Exchange, a banquet and meeting facility, had a few issues surrounding the event. Owner Emma Cheek is not against the streatery and its mission, but was surprised by what happened after the event s announcement.
