Facebook Share Authorities have released the name of a man whose burning body was discovered inside a vacant Birmingham building, and announced a formal arrest in the case. Birmingham police Saturday night identified the victim as 34-year-old Maxim Voronetsky, who had been decapitated and set on fire during the killing. Jason Dwayne Adams, 41, is charged with murder in Voronetsky’s slaying. Both men were transients and had lengthy criminal histories for property and drug crimes.

Arrest made after man was decapitated, set on fire in Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM The Birmingham Police Department announced an arrest after a person was decapitated and set on fire. The incident, according to an announcement from BPD, occurred on Thursday, Dec. 10, 2020. Police say the 911 communication division received a call of smoke emitting from an abandoned building at approximately 3:20 p.m. Birmingham Fire and Rescue responded and extinguished a small fire inside the building, which is located at 816 2 nd Avenue North in Birmingham. After the fire was extinguished, Birmingham Fire and Rescue discovered the victim’s body. The victim has been identified as Maxim Voronetsky, 34, a transient. The suspect has been identified as Jason Adams, 41, a transient. Adams is charged with murder and is being held in the Jefferson County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
