No. 1 Le Moyne remains undefeated after a Wednesday afternoon, 15-14, double-overtime victory against Adelphi that is hard to describe.
Senior defender Nate Arnold scored the game-winner with a longpole with 13.4 seconds remaining in the second extra period. That’s crazy enough, but watch the lead-up to his heroics.
Seconds earlier, he and defender Nick Fraterrigo had utter disregard for their safety. Arnold closed out on Adelphi shooter James Hall and appeared to get a piece of the shot, while Fraterrigo dove out attempting to soak up anything that got through.
The ball ended up on the ground, and Le Moyne’s Colin Sypek picked it up. The pass over to Fraterrigo it ended up on the ground again with the net wide open. Adelphi couldn’t get a handle on it, and Max Cramer ended up with the ball out of the melee. He dished it to Arnold, who not only face-dodged his man but buried the game-winning goal.
