KOHAT/MANSEHRA: The Kohat police seized a large cache of unlicensed weapons and arrested a man on the Indus Highway on Thursday foiling an attempt to smuggle them to Miramshah town of North Waziristan tribal district.
ASP Vaqas Rafique and Saddar police station SHO Fayyaz Khan told reporters that 46 9MM pistols, three Kalashnikovs, six M16 rifles, six silencers and 50 chargers were seized at the Kohat Tunnel checkpoint during the checking of a car coming in from Peshawar.
He said the arms were hidden in the car’s secret cavities.
The ASP said both car and its driver, Nisar Khan of Mattani, Peshawar, were shifted to the police station.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to impose a smart lockdown in seven areas in Peshawar over the rising number of coronavirus cases in the city.
The lockdown will be implemented at 6pm today (December 17).
There will be ‘controlled entry and exit’ in the following areas:
Street No 6-12, Sector F-8, Hayatabad.
Aslam Dheri, Pajjagi Road.
Gulshan Rehman Colony, Mattani.
Hazar Khwani, Sheikhan Road.
According to the deputy commissioner’s notification, no person will be allowed to exit or enter “except those supplying essential commodities”.
