Streator High School finishes year with commendable rating

  STREATOR – As the school year wraps up for Streator Township High School board members reflected on the state of the district and past milestones of the establishment. Streator Township High School was rated commendable with a nearly 80% graduation rate in their annual report card released by the Illinois State Board of Education. Superintendent Dr. Matt Seaton, whose last board meeting was Tuesday, also highlighted the 26 courses added since 2014 as well as the various upgrades throughout the school. Seaton predicts future challenges for the district will be finding foreign language teachers, fiscal stability, and teacher and staff shortage areas. Local Weather

Solon elected IVCC Board Chair

May 4, 2021 IVCC – Studstill Media Photo OGLESBY- Everett Solon of Streator was elected Illinois Valley Community College board chair at a special reorganizational meeting Monday.  He joined the board in 2013 and was reelected April 6.  Solon had served as vice chair since April 2017 and was formerly on the Streator High School board for 18-years, 14 as president.  The board also approved the appointment of Matt Seaton as Vice President for Business Services and Finance. Streator High School accrues food service dollars to finance new kitchen flooring

  STREATOR – Streator High School will be undergoing some upgrades in the near future. The high school’s Buildings and Ground Committee made the recommendation to replace kitchen flooring from tile to epoxy. Superintendent Dr. Matt Seaton says the school accrued money through their food services by going from serving 700 meals a day to 3500 meals last spring during the start of the pandemic. The money is required to be spent on food service needs and Seaton says the school has been sitting on months of reserves cash waiting to be spent. The new flooring will cost around $35,000.
