Rams eager for upcoming season

STRASBURG â Strasburgâs boys basketball team lost a lot of players to graduation, but they still have plenty of reasons to feel good about this season. The Rams lost five players to graduation, including four starters. However, the Rams are bringing in some new faces that have had success at the junior varsity level to go along with several key returners from last year. Strasburg Athletic Director Matt Hiserman has been helping coach the team in the preseason while head coach Larry Fox has been out due to illness. Hiserman said heâs liked what heâs seen from the players.

VHSL requiring athletes to wear masks during games, practices

High school student-athletes in certain sports will be required to wear masks at all times, even during competition, according to an announcement from the Virginia High School League on Thursday night. The VHSL noted in a news release that the Virginia Department of Health âstrongly advisesâ athletes to wear masks at all times during âgroup training, competition and on the sidelinesâ during times of âsubstantial COVID-19 activity.â The release further states that the league understands participation in sports presents âphysical and psychological health benefitsâ and that risks of contracting the virus can be decreased if âathletes, coaches, officials and spectators follow public health guidelines.â
