A loss-making ferry service used by private school students has been saved after a backflip from the NSW government.
Students from Saint Ignatiusâ College Riverview faced the prospect of commuting to school on buses, which would add up to 20 minutes to journey times, after Captain Cook Cruises announced last month that the Lane Cove ferry service would cease on December 18.

School students face longer travel times after a loss-making ferry service was axed despite lobbying from a senior government minister.
Captain Cook Cruises announced on December 3 that the Lane Cove ferry service, used daily by more than 120 students from Saint Ignatius College Riverview as well as up to 60 adult passengers, would cease on December 18, prompting an outcry from commuters and Anthony Roberts, Minister for Counter Terrorism and Corrections.
