Started around 8 am yesterday. When police attempted to pull over Aroldo Vela Chavez for speeding. Officers say, the suspect led police on a short chase. Before he crashed into a fence, hitting a woman walking on the sidewalk. The victim, identified as 65 yearold Linda Cochran of pittsburg, was pronounced dead at the scene. Vela chavez attempted to run on foot. But was taken into custody. He now faces several charges including suspicion of murder, vehicular manslaughter and evading police. This afternoon. A 3 Year Old Girl was struck by a vehicle in east oakland. The girl was hit around noon. On 98th avenue near birch street. She was taken to the hospital. And police say, she was conscious and breathing. The driver stopped at the scene and is cooperating with police. The incident remains under investigation.
