We were talking about this federal mediator that walked out at about 1 00 in the morning. You know, he basically made this announcement that negotiations have been making some progress. At the request of the federal mediation and Conciliation Service and because of all of our concerns about the public interest, im authorized to announce that trains will run tomorrow. Reporter now we have no idea how long both sides will go at it. We dont know if this is a break right now. At 10 00 last night the unions presented their counter offer to sundays offer that b. A. R. T. Said was its best and final. We have heard from insiders that although the two parties are close to reaching an agreement theyre locking heads on this key issue, which is pay. Now another Sticking Point has been work rules regarding overtime. If they come out of here with no deal, that means that potentially, you know there could still be a strike come tomorrow. Reporter potentially it could be more crowded because of the uncertainty surrounding this labor dispute. A lot of people made other plans, backup plans on how they were going to get into San Fransisco. You have to imagine people might stick with those plans even though the trains are running this morning. Ferrys a popular option as we saw during the last strike. Could potentially see more people than normal taking those ferries even today into the city. Ferries will be operating on a normal schedule today. Thats the word because there is no b. A. R. T. Strike. During the last strike in july, the ferry was a popular option. Commuters lined up early. And if a strike does happen, the system will be trying to accommodate a lot more commuters. 200,000 people who use b. A. R. T. Every day would need to find other ways to get into the city and the ferry would be one of those ways. In the event of a walkout by b. A. R. T. Employees, every available ferry would be put into service. There would also be direct Ferry Service from the oakland terminal to San Fransiscos Ferry Building and from alamedas mainstream to the San Fransisco Ferry Building, and the ferries would be running about every 45 minutes or so. They would start earlier in the morning and run later on into the evening. The ferrys on a normal schedule. The first one expected to leave from oakland at 6 00 this morning. San fransisco police are looking for suspects in a triple shooting that killed one person. It happened last night on rose alley in the western addition. Police say it was either a drive by or walkup shooting. The victims are said to be men in their early 20s and a teenage boy. The project developer at levi stadium plans to hold a meeting with all workers before that job site reopens this morning following a workers death. Work stopped yesterday morning after a bundle of rebar came loose and fell on a delivery truckdriver. The cal osha investigation could take several months. The state agency has said the work site is safe to reopen. Now the medical examiner says the truckdriver killed in the construction accident in santa clara was 60yearold Edward Irving lake junior. He died at the hospital. Lake worked for gurdal a stadium subcontractor. Neighbors say he lived with a girlfriend and several dogs at his home in vacaville. Another construction worker, 63 yearold donald white was hit by an elevator counter weight in an elevator shaft. Just four days ago cal osha decided not to issue a citation in connection with his death. Investigators say white knew the elevator was in motion, but decided to stay where he was when he was fatally injured. Happening now the warriors are playing a basketball game in china. R. T. Workers had threatened to go on strike today if they did not reach a contract deal by midnight. Were hoping to get an update sometime later this morning. We have some new information this morning about a pedestrian hit and killed on caltrain tracks in menlo park yesterday afternoon. Caltrain now says that that person was a boy. He was hit just before 4 30 p. M. North of the rail crossing. Caltrain has not released any further details about the boy or the circumstances behind his death. This is the 13th death on caltrain tracks this year. An arrest has been made in connection with a deadly shooting in San Fransiscos Mission District early yesterday morning. Investigators say theyve arrested 56yearold vincent jacobo. It happened on bartlett and 2 t streets at 4 30 in the morning. The victim has been identified as 28yearold Maurice White of San Fransisco. No word on a motive for that shooting. Time now 4 45. Police in santa cruz have arrested five teenage gang members in a driveby shooting of a 12yearold boy last year. Thats according to santa cruz sentinel. Joey mendoza was on his way to his home on the lower ocean neighborhood on august 8th, 2012 when 19yearold Andrew Carrera and four other gang members confronted him. Mendoza was shot twice in the back, died on the scene. The names of the four suspects have not been released. A fire at a barn in a rural part of south san jose is under investigation. The Fire Department tweeted this photo of the damage. It started at about 10 45 last night on monterey road. Firefighters say tara amy coe furniture restoration owns that barn. Nearby power lines caused concern but no one was hurt. Uc Berkeley Police are investigating a robbery of a student on campus. The latest happened sunday night when two men approached a student walking near moffett library. The student was pushed to the ground and the suspects ran off with the students cell phone. It comes after two more robberies near campus last week. Police are urging students to put away their phones while walking on campus. The city of fremont may install surveillance cameras. The argus reports police are asking the city council to put up cameras on low to moderate income areas. They say their request comes after complaints about a rise in home burglaries. Police in Solano County are looking for a man suspected of starting a fire inside a wal mart store in fairfield. Police released these surveillance photos of the man. He is suspected of starting a fire at 3 30 yesterday morning at the walmart on north texas street. That store was evacuatend evacuated but no one was hurt. Boniva police are investigating a rash of vehicle thefts. This truck was among those stolen. It was found a few hours later abandoned. The owner says it had been stripped of 30,000 worth of tools and other equipment. The containers were open, pretty much nothing in it. There were cleaning supplies that they took. They took almost everything out of the truck with the exception of a few small screws. Benicia police say a dozen commercial truck asks vans have been stolen. They think the vehicles are being targeted because of the large amounts of valuable tools that they typically carry. Police are encouraging truck owners to install antitheft devices. Some people are ignoring the Government Shutdown signs posted in national forests. The closed sign at lows pad Race National forest near Santa Barbara is not keeping everyone out. Richmonds point ma la tees beach park is open for the first time in more than ten years. In 2001 the site fell into disrepair and had to be closed. The city run beach features picnic benches and barbecue pits and is open to visitors from sunrise to sunset. The halfmoon bay pumpkin weigh off had a big winner this year.
