GUWAHATI: The Government of Assam has introduced the Bodo Kachari Welfare Autonomous Council Bill-2020 . Minister for the Welfare of Plain Tribes & Backward Classes (WPT&BC), Chandan Brahma placed the Bill on the first day of the winter session in the Assam Assembly on Monday. Moreover, under the The Assam Official Language (Amendment) Bill, 2020 , step has been taken to make the Bodo language an associate official language across the State. This Bill was placed in the House by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary.

The three-day winter session of the Assam Assembly commenced on Monday, following Covid-19 protocols. Assam Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that he will introduce a bill to repeal provincialisation of Madrassas. Today I shall introduce a Bill to repeal Provincialisation of Madrassa. Once the Bill is passed, the practice of running Madrassa by the Government in Assam will come to an end, a practice which was started by Muslim League govt in pre-Independence Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted.

Guwahati: Uproarious scenes marked day one of the three-day Assam Assembly Session that began on Monday. The AIUDF created noisy scenes in the floor of the house after Speaker Jatin Goswami denied the demand from the AIUDF to discuss the withdrawal of the contentious farm bills.
The Winter Session began today from 9.30 AM in accordance with the Covid 19 protocols in the state. After the Question Hour and the reading of the Business Advisory Committee report were conducted, the tabling of different government bills on the Assembly floor began in the session. As per reports, the members on the Chairperson s panel under Rule 9 (1) of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business were also announced in the ini
