MASSILLON – When Whittier Elementary students return to school in the fall, they will be greeted by a new face.
Marcus Simpson was named the school s new principal Wednesday during the Board of Education s monthly meeting.
Simpson, a 1999 Washington High grad, replaces Matt Plybon, who will be moving to the middle school.
He once walked the halls of the elementary school as a student.
Since 2011, Simpson has served as assistant principal at Massillon Intermediate School.
He began his career in education at Massillon Middle School teaching seventh-grade math before moving into the administrative role. I am excited, blessed and honored to be able to serve as the principal of Whittier Elementary,” Simpson said. “I love the city of Massillon and I am excited to continue my career in this great school district.”
