killer that gets most of the attention. eric harris and dylanical icalk. anders behring breivik. today is the one-year anniversary of that mass killing. but names we should be hearing are those of the victims. we want to start this morning remembering those who lost their lives friday morning as told by the people they left behind. not surprising to me that his first thought would be her. that s what a man does. he protects his loved ones. i m very proud of him. we re going to miss him. just a great kid. talented kid. very talented. a lot of gifts. made people laugh. always made people smile. gentle giant was the way we looked at him. the sweetest smile you ve ever seen. and she got she got prettier as she grew older. in a blink of an eye, something happens, and completely changes everyone s life forever. she was a great kid. she was just finding herself. would never harm anybody. she didn t deserve to die this way. he was a wonderful young man. what a terrible,
died early friday in that shooting. let me just tell you that a citywide prayer vigil is set for a few hours from now, and of course, we will be covering it for you. and from the police today, they are still not saying anything about what would make their suspect, that suspect go on the deadly rampage. they do believe though that holmes planned this attack for at least two months. and it is that planning and the evidence that holmes left behind that i want to talk to cnn s ed lavandara right now, and ed is outside of the suspect s apartment, and ed, tell us what suspects are saying about the neighbor. you know, the people that you talk to around here in the neighborhood who had seen james holmes come and go, describe a quiet guy who kept to himself. this is the apartment behind me, and everything has been opened up, everything except for the building he lived in, and you can see the windows smashed out by the bomb teams who spent almost 36 hours working through trying to ma
some public comments in a few minutes and we will have that for you live of course on cnn. the president is going to speak not long before a citywide gathering of people here in aurora. they will pray, they will honor the people killed, and they will be together. at the scene where the people of aurora are beginning to gather right now. take us there. what is expected to happen where you are later? reporter: well, in about 90 minutes, this prayer vigil will begin. we re already beginning to see people gather in this rather large square. if you look behind me, you can see there are chairs set up and people are standing around this area. there is a stage set up. a podium. what we are expecting to hear today is a community trying to come to grips with what has happened. trying to moveeyond the actual shooting and work on becoming a community of healing. we re expecting to hear from the governor, the mayor, as well as victims. victims families, people who were inside there. sh
