after fierce storms swept through washington state this weekend. one man was killed after winds knocked a tree onto his car. his 3-year-old daughter was in the back seat. she was unharmed. another person who died was just 10 years old. the little girl was playing at a friend s house when a branch fell and hit her. also in washington state, a memorial for three firefighters killed by battling a massive wildfire. the men died when the twisp river fire torched their van. they will be honored at a citywide memorial. and a washington state fire is bigger than any fire ever and costing $20 million to date to fight. the fire is so out of control that officials are now warning that they can burn until the first snowfall. these wildfires. let s bring in cnn meteorologist
he was the first african-american to play the lead role in the broadway production of les miserables. a memorial day for three firefighters killed while fighting a massive fire. men died last week when flames from the twisp river fire in washington state torched their fan. that fire is about 85% contained now. but look at it. fellow firefighters are honoring those three at a citywide memorial. you know the vow, for richer or for poorer. well, this couple struck big on the rich side of that. one day, just one day after getting married, they won a $4 million lottery prize in massachusetts. happy wedding! big smiles, everybody. here they are. you saw them with their daughter. they re taking a lump sum, $2.6 million. they re going to use it to go on a honeymoon. hey why not. pay off student loans. buy two cars, and build an oasis right in their backyard. i want to see that. hopefully they ll have some left. all righty thank you so much. for starting your morning with
some public comments in a few minutes and we will have that for you live of course on cnn. the president is going to speak not long before a citywide gathering of people here in aurora. they will pray, they will honor the people killed, and they will be together. at the scene where the people of aurora are beginning to gather right now. take us there. what is expected to happen where you are later? reporter: well, in about 90 minutes, this prayer vigil will begin. we re already beginning to see people gather in this rather large square. if you look behind me, you can see there are chairs set up and people are standing around this area. there is a stage set up. a podium. what we are expecting to hear today is a community trying to come to grips with what has happened. trying to moveeyond the actual shooting and work on becoming a community of healing. we re expecting to hear from the governor, the mayor, as well as victims. victims families, people who were inside there. sh
