SOAP LAKE The tale of a nice but eccentric fellow, his boon companion – a six-foot, three-inch invisible pink rabbit – and his scheming relatives comes to Masquers Theater this February with the troupe’s production of “Harvey.”
Director Pat Rosman said the 2023-24 season is one of classic plays, and “Harvey,” which premiered in 1944 and ran more than four years on Broadway, is a theater staple.
Elwood P. Dowd (Dave Stearns in the Masquers production) is a very nice fellow who likes a drink or two – or more. And then there’s his friend Harvey, the invisible one, the tall pink rabbit. They go everywhere together.
SOAP LAKE Santa Claus will be coming to town, downtown Soap Lake anyway, Saturday afternoon. Santa’s arrival, however, is one of many events during Winterfest, Soap Lake’s annual holiday celebration.
Susan Carson of the Soap Lake Chamber of Commerce said Santa’s arrival is the biggest deal of the day.
SOAP LAKE The Masquers Theater in Soap Lake will be premiering Noel Coward’s Blithe Spirit this weekend. The show will run through October 1 every Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and every Sunday at 2 p.m., according to the theater’s website.
“Blithe Spirit” marks the opening of the Masquers’ new theater season, said the play’s director Marla Allsopp, who is also on the Masquers Theater Board of Directors.
SOAP LAKE Auditions will be at 6 p.m. Aug. 27 and 28 for the Masquers Theater production of “Elf: The Musical.” Auditions will be at the theater, 322 East Main St., Soap Lake; actors only need to attend one audition session.
Clifford and Stacey Bresee are the directors. The show opens Nov. 25 and will run weekends through Dec. 16.
Auditions are open to actors from 9 years of age to adult roles.
