Carthage captures state title in 70-14 win over Gilmer

ARLINGTON, Texas (KLTV) - The Carthage Bulldogs completed their perfect season with a 70-14 win over Gilmer.
With the win, Carthage won a state championship for the second-straight year and their eighth state title in the past 13 years.
The Gilmer Buckeyes came out looking to hit Carthage early and hold the momentum. They got two quick scores from Rohan Fullelen to go up 14-0.
Carthage answered back with Kai Horton doing a backwards pass to Mason Courtney who proceeded to pass it back to Horton who did the rest and got the first Carthage touchdown. Carthage never looked back and would win 70-14. This was the Bulldogs eighth state title in 13 seasons with head coach Scott Surratt. He has the most of any coach at the 11-man level with one school.
