An 11-month-old baby was also hit with a knobkerrie in the attack but survived. He is still in hospital, two weeks after the attack. Selimo Tsoeute, 20, Leponesa Tsoeute, 24, and the farmer, Thabo Mnguni, 43, appeared at the Phuthaditjhaba Magistrate’s Court on Monday. They face charges of murder, attempted murder, arson, defeating the ends of justice and aiding escape. Their case has been postponed to April 19.

Four other children who survived raised the alarm. Free State police spokesperson Colonel Thandi Mbambo said the first suspect to be arrested was a 21-year-old Lesotho national. He was taken into custody on in Mphatlalatsane, Qwaqwa, on Wednesday.

The attack on Monday also left an 11-month-old in hospital after the baby was hit with a knobkerrie. The suspected motive for the killings was revenge, reported Times Live. More arrests linked to Namahadi murders

───   LUCKY NKUYANE 08:57 Fri, 09 Apr 2021 The Free State police have arrested two more suspects linked to the murders of five people, including a mother and her children, in Marakong village in Namahadi in Qwaqwa. These two arrests come hours after the police nabbed a 21-year-old man, also linked to Saturday s murders where the victims were found burnt and shot.  Police spokesperson, Thandi Mbambo, says amongst those arrested, a farmer was also caught after it was established that he had been transporting the assailants and aiding them from evading arrest. She says the suspects, one a local farmer, were arrested in Harrismith in the early hours of Friday 9 April 2021.
