Water related issues topped the list of agenda items brought before the Moberly City Council at its Monday, March 1 business meeting held at City Hall.
The City of Moberly is moving forward on a project announced last fall to divert water flow from the Holman Road CSO coming from north of town by constructing a regional lift station. This larger sized facility would consolidate three facilities along Rte. JJ allowing them to connect, and eliminate three existing lift stations.
The regional lift station would flow the drinking water treatment plant backwash recovery basin and pump it to the Morley Lift Station raccording to a report issued by Moberly Director of Public Utilities Mary West-Calcagno.

Moving forward with several water and sewer related projects as well as providing renovation safety and technology measures for the chamber floor area at Moberly City Hall dominated the list of agenda items that were addressed Tuesday by the city council at its business meeting.
L & J Development Inc. of Moberly is hired to perform the renovations at an estimated cost of $49, 920. Work could begin before this week concludes, and the project is expected to take nearly a month to complete providing that materials are available to order. A portion of CARES Act funds will help defray expenses.

Upon receiving its CARES Act monies for the purpose of upgrading its technology that would enhance online broadcast streaming of events taking place at Moberly City Hall, the city council on Monday chose to delay its installation within the chamber floor.
That s because during a Jan. 4 work session that followed a public business meeting, the council is considering to take a proactive cost approach plan that involves renovating the facility first while providing extra public safety measures in its design.
“If you look at the recent 10 years of tragic reports where shootings have taken place in public gatherings and meetings, the concern for public safety has grown. This has caused public entities like ourselves looking for the need to better secure places like our city council chamber where public meetings are held,” Moberly City Manager Brian Crane said. “We have been looking at various means about the direction we need to take in providing safety meas
