As St. George moves towards becoming its own city, leaders are demanding the City-Parish pay back the taxes St. George residents paid to East Baton Rouge Parish government.

BATON ROUGE - Organizers behind the City of St. George effort were disappointed by the First Circuit Court s decision to deny their incorporation, but not deterred.
Plaintiffs seeking to stop the incorporation of St. George failed today to convince a judge to grant summary judgment in their favor, meaning the trial will go forward this spring.
The two sides in the legal fight over the incorporation of St. George could once again not come to an agreement. This time it was about whether to appoint a commissioner to fill in for the judge in their case who is retiring.
