We are going to be talking about a terrific book today called the great race by levi tillemann. Its a very timely book. This is really the fourth time that the electric car has appeared on the scene and the first time was when Thomas Edison was a great proponent of the electric car and spend 1 million in the dollars of that day which would be many millions of dollars to date over a very continued trying to develop it. He promised the head of the biggest electric Utility Company in america that he was going to give them lots and lots what a great market would be. It didnt work out. To my friend from wyoming, my local utility, the Los Angeles Department of water and power just concluded a very large agreement with a wyoming wind company to import windgenerated electricity from wyoming to help replace some of the coalfired energy that they have been relying on. They are actually takeing responsibility for being the largest demander in our state even though the electricity that we were using was coming from utah, as it happens. And there will be costs associated with transitioning away from the coal and into the wind. But overall the net of it is that los angeles ratepayers will still be doing okay because the utility is taking steps to help their customers become more efficient in their use of energy. And that, i think, is kind of the critical ingreed yent here. If our rates go up because of new investments were making, that has to be offset somewh
