Election 2021: Tibbott comes out swinging as he launches council campaign

MY EDMONDS NEWS Posted: July 2, 2021 136 Neil Tibbott stresses his core message of bringing political climate change to city government, an end to partisan politics, and restoring balance, civility and respect. Former Edmonds City Councilmember and mayoral candidate Neil Tibbott kicked off his campaign to rejoin the city council in a gala Thursday evening bash at the Edmonds Yacht Club.  The event took full advantage of Gov. Inslee’s action to roll back most COVID restrictions, with more than 120 mostly unmasked supporters filling the downstairs ballroom, where they enjoyed light snacks, listened to live music and heard remarks from key supporters.

Finger Lakes Boating Museum to hold events The Leader The Finger Lakes Boating Museum, 8231 Pleasant Valley Road, Hammondsport, will hold a number of upcoming events. Historian Mike O’Brien will present a lecture on the Grumman Boat Co. at 7 p.m. April 15 virtually and in-person. Log-in details will appear at flbm.org. Jim Hofschneider will teach folks techniques of wood finishing from raw wood through varnishing/painting from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 17 at the museum. Cost: $30, members; $35, nonmembers. Books About Performance From Black Authors Released This Week

Performance occurs in a myriad of ways, from spoken and written poetry to taking the stage, to playing a game of spades. In fictional universes, particularly in fantastical worlds, a character’s performance can range from their abilities to their descriptions. This week, the intricate tapestry of Black performance is explored through many different lenses in the books. This week, poetry once again takes the national stage with Amanda Gorman’s The Hill We Climb: An Inaugural Poem for the Country.
