The sign at the 1892 building reads: The Public School Building from 1892 is one of the best examples of Victorian school architecture that is still remaining in the Northeast United States. It cost $17,600 to build, with money that was given by people from the region, and was used until 1977. On the 23rd of February in the year 1979, the Kutztown Area Historical Society purchased the school to establish a museum dedicated to the history of the East Penn Valley.
