After spirited debate, La Crosse County Board passes $500 COVID reimbursement for employees December 17, 2020 8:37 PM Mike Tighe Updated: LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) La Crosse County employees will get a one-time payment of $500, tax-free, to cover COVID-19 related expenses, under a resolution county supervisors approved Thursday after a contentious, two-hour debate. Some supervisors resisted the idea, insisting that it would be unfair to workers in other occupations and challenging whether it would help the local economy. The action survived a vote to refer the issue back to the executive committee in a quest to help more people, but it ultimately passed on a vote of 16 supervisors for, 12 against and one supervisor excused.
