SHANGLA: Two children died and several others were affected due to measles in Kamach union council of Martung tehsil as the health department sent a team to the area for vaccination of children on Tuesday.
The health department confirmed the sudden emergence of measles cases in Kharaw village, saying it had engaged a team of the Expanded Programme on Immunisation in the affected locality to vaccinate the children against the disease.
Ibadullah Khan, a resident of the hilly Kamach area, told Dawn that two children had died and four others were shifted to a hospital in Buner in critical condition.

A man was shot dead by his rivals in Lahore’s Shafiqabad, the police said Monday night.
The deceased’s son said that that his father had a property dispute with a family in Shangla district’s Martung.
He told the police that his sister was getting married next week. Many people had been inviting my father for dinner. My father went for dinner to Shafiqabad when two men in a rickshaw got off and opened fire at him.
SHANGLA: The people of Puran, Martung and Makhozi tehsils blocked the main road here on Friday to protest excessive power outages and overbilling.
The protest was called by a local elders committee at Aloch Bazaar. People from different walks of life, traders and political activists participated in it.
The protesters were carrying placards inscribed with slogans against Pesco and its local officials for resorting to excessive outages.
The speakers said Puran, Martung and Makhozi tehsils were facing electricity outages though around 83MW of electricity was also produced in the district.
Sherin Zada, the committee office-bearer, said the Pesco was observing around 18-hour daily loadshedding.
