PHC judge expresses displeasure over Swat Press Club s affairs -

June 2, 2021 SWAT: A Peshawar High Court (PHC) judge has expressed his displeasure over a newspaper owner’s influence on the Swat Press Club. Justice Waqar Ahmad, who heads a bench, said that it was a matter of concern that some influential, who had nothing to do with journalism, were taking interest in the press club and its related matters. The judge, who had earlier listened to the arguments, also directed the Swat Press Club authority to submit an explanation before the competent bench within two weeks. “It is astonishing to hear, the Swat Press Club is being influenced by influential political parties, owners of newspapers, and other individuals who have nothing to do with journalism at all,” he said.

Shangla people protest power outages - Newspaper

SHANGLA: The people of Puran, Martung and Makhozi tehsils blocked the main road here on Friday to protest excessive power outages and overbilling. The protest was called by a local elders committee at Aloch Bazaar. People from different walks of life, traders and political activists participated in it. The protesters were carrying placards inscribed with slogans against Pesco and its local officials for resorting to excessive outages. The speakers said Puran, Martung and Makhozi tehsils were facing electricity outages though around 83MW of electricity was also produced in the district. Sherin Zada, the committee office-bearer, said the Pesco was observing around 18-hour daily loadshedding.
