Tata Motors sees an eventual split in the platforms for its conventional engine and electric passenger vehicles in order to make future products unique and remove the handicap of developing EVs on traditional platforms, according to its Global Head of Design, Martin Uhlarik.
With electrification
The transition from fossil fuel to electric vehicles is placing a greater emphasis on design, offering new possibilities to car designers. With the absence of traditional components such as engines and exhaust systems, automakers can now provide larger cabins within the same footprint. Design is becoming a key differentiating factor as electric powertrains become more standardized. Interior and exterior design will play a significant role in attracting customers and reflecting changes in technology.
