COVID-19 one of many issues for public safety this past season

Palm Beach Daily News Despite a year of curfews, stay-at-home orders and a rise in COVID-19 cases as winter residents returned to Palm Beach, the 2020-21 season saw a light at the end of a very long tunnel. When Gov. Ron DeSantis announced in January that seniors 65 and over would be the first group inoculated with the new COVID-19 vaccine, town officials were ready. An infrastructure and distribution system was put in place in September that allowed the town to secure an initial 1,000 vaccines for its residents. On Jan. 5, the first doses of the Moderna vaccine were administered to eligible residents.

Four Seasons in Palm Beach cited for multiple code violations

Palm Beach Daily News The Four Seasons Resort Palm Beach is facing possible fines for multiple building and fire code violations that were first reported by the Town of Palm Beach Fire Department in September.  Officials at the Code Enforcement Board s meeting last month planned to discuss the status of approximately 17 violations the hotel was instructed to fix in January, but according to Fire Marshal Marty DeLoach, nothing was done at the property, 2800 S. Ocean Blvd. DeLoach told  officials at the Feb. 18 meeting that the violations included extensive use of electrical cords throughout the building, work performed without permit plans for electrical modification, blocked exits in many areas of the building and lack of maintenance of fire and smoke doors. He also was concerned about the hotel modifying its electrical system a year ago to “accommodate their single client.”
