The westbound lanes of i80 between solano and contra costa counties has been closed. Caltrans expecting to reopen them tuesday morning. But those returning to the bay area today will face a detour around the roadwork kron. 4 Charles Clifford has an update on that work being done. Charles . Yeah. Caltrans says that they are on schedule to reopen westbound tomorrow morning. However, we are starting to see some backup on the detour which goes through benicia and that could get worse as we head into the evening hours. Westbound lanes of interstate 80 between 7. 80, in vallejo on highway 4 in hercules were closed down last thursday evening on friday, caltrans tore up several miles of the westbound lanes. And then over the weekend they poured fresh concrete. And now on monday, they are waiting for th
Rain fall and theyre mostly concentrated to the north of the bay and where were sitting locally. Just a lot of cloud cover. We remain dry so far, which certainly been nice for morning commuters. Now that the committee has wound down will likely start to see rainfall picking up, especially for the north bay. Right now, its a couple of sprinkles here and there right around bodega bay. Youve seen a couple of drops over in napa county, mostly up north. Theres your heavier stuff. Most of thats going to transition north right there to the northern sonoma and Mendocino County line. Thats where weve already seen some of our heaviest of rainfall. Heavy rain moving its way on over into lake county. Now, even a couple of lightning strikes just to the north and the northern portions of lake county. 101, from uk to wil lutz and highway one at the coastline are pretty wet at the moment from those already seen showers up there to the north of us. The Vice President says the Generation Fund will break the cycle of poverty in oakland by making it easier for children in those hardest hit communities to go to college, it promises to set create 500 College Savings accounts for all oakland, born children from lowincome families over the next 4 years. It also create scholarships worth 1000 a year for all lowincome Public School students in oakland while theyre pursuing a College Degree or trade certificate. This is expected to benefit roughly 30,000 kids over the next 10 years costing about 50 Million Dollars.
