The victim in the shooting was treated at the hospital for a non-life threatening gunshot injury.
Mark Ruffin Jr., 22, faces up to 20-years in state prison if convicted of Attempted Murder subject to the provisions of the No Early Release Act which means he has to serve 85 percent of the sentence imposed before becoming eligible for release on parole.
Ruffin Jr. would also be under parole supervision for five years following his release from state prison.
In addition to first degree Attempted Murder, Ruffin Jr. is also charged with second degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and second degree unlawful possession of weapon.

NEPTUNE A Neptune man has been arrested in connection with the shooting that occurred at the Neptune Walmart on Wednesday, according to Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.
Mark Ruffin Jr., 22, was arrested and charged with one count of first-degree attempted murder, one count of second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and one count of second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, according to a Thursday press release from the Monmouth County Prosecutor s Office.
On Wednesday, around 1 p.m, the Neptune Township Police Department responded to the Walmart on 3755 State Highway 66 for reports of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers discovered one male victim suffering from a gunshot wound, who was taken to a local hospital.

A 22-year-old Neptune Township resident was charged with attempted murder after he allegedly shot another man in the parking lot of a Walmart during a drug deal on Wednesday afternoon.
The man who was shot outside the store on Route 66 in Neptune Township just after 1 p.m. was taken to a local hospital to be treated for an injury not considered life-threatening, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office said Thursday.
Ruffin was caught by police following a brief foot chase in which he ran across the highway, according to an affidavit of probable cause. Ruffin and the victim were acquaintances, the charging document states.
