Among the many intriguing things about the Chevy Colorado ZR2-based GM Defense Infantry Squad Vehicle (ISV) is a feature called Combat Mode, which is designed to give soldiers the best chance to get out of a critical situation and to save their lives.
Essentially, Combat Mode keeps the vehicle running when other safety systems are trying to shut it down.

GM Defense, a subsidiary of General Motors, on Tuesday celebrated the opening of its 75,000-square-foot manufacturing facility near Charlotte, where U.S. Army Infantry Squad Vehicles will be made. Fort Bragg in North Carolina will be the first to receive deliveries of the vehicles, the Observer previously reported. The plans will produce all-terrain troop carriers called Infantry Squad Vehicles. The ISVs are strong enough to carry nine soldiers but have a light enough frame that it could have been used in a race car.

GM Defense is getting closer and closer to producing the ISV – the Infantry Squad Vehicle – at its brand new facility in Concord, North Carolina. The ISV is powered by the 2.8L baby Duramax engine. But the GM subsidiary has created and is now testing a new ISV, one that runs solely on electricity. Mark Hawkins has been chosen to head up Groupe Renault UK s fleet department, in one of several newly-announced senior appointments.
Hawkins has worked for the company for more than 27 years, most recently as head of dealer network development and performance.
He replaces Mark Dickens, who is moving to become head of Elexent UK, a Renault-owned business looking to help companies establish or expand EV fleets with tailor-made, turnkey charging solutions.
These are among a number of senior appointments announced as Groupe Renault divides into four separate business units - Renault, Dacia, Alpine, and Mobilize.
Among the other new appointments are Adam Wood being named as Dacia brand director in the north territory, which includes the UK, and Louise O Sullivan becoming marketing director.Â
