investigation certainly doesn t look like it would be going away. they had told the president it would be over by this point, and it certainly isn t. now, he s only being represented solely by jay sekulow now? well, he has mark kaowitz from last summer. the president s longtime lawyer from new york. he s still involved. sekulow is front and center here on the investigation. john dowd having quit last week. he still has ty cobb in the white house. and sort of came in search of more lawyers when you need a lot of lawyers to prepare for such an important event. absolutely. and one of the other ones, paul, when it comes to this, reporting for the new york times this morning is that one of the other conflicts of course, that victoria tensing representing mark carolo, and he was the guy
right. dana: on july 20, 2017, mark coralo, the spokes person for president trump s legal team outside of the white house resigned. no one ever talked about it. now a lawyer wants to talk to him. does he have an obligation to come forward to mueller? i believe he does. you and i know mark and respect him. he was the former spokes person for the justice department in the year when you worked for president bush. mark carolo was a spokes person for president. he advised the president and his people not to tell a version of the trump tower events which were at odds with e-mails. mark carolo was apparently going to the new york times going to tell bob mueller that one of the people at that meeting said those e-mails will never see the light of day and that person was an in the president s circle. if he said that credibly, he s going to point out a case for a conspiracy to object struck justice, to hide documents
knowing that the special counsel would be looking for them because they are relevant to the core of what he s looking at, any relationship between the trump campaign and the russian government. dana: what would be the strategy behind telling the new york times that this is what you were going to be saying in testimony? i don t know. if they did not quote mark carolo dana: they did not. i can t imagine mark going himself to the new york times. perhaps he told a friend or lawyer or somebody who went to the new york times. bob mueller tkuszn t want that. you don t want your witnesses blabbing to any entity what you re about to tell a grand jury. mark is extremely experienced at this. dana: i knew him when i worked at the justice department. he was a spokes person for john ash croft. i was a junior bird man under him. i can t imagine you were ever a junior bird man. dana: july 8, not the 18th. i apologize. they re gonna have to make me

special counsel to remove the person involved. the president is irritated that the russian probe could reach into his and his family s finances. the article went on to say according to the spokesperson, we have yet to independently confirm that detail to cnn, but it s been reported at the washington post and the new york times. and this came after the day of the president s blowback with the new york times, jeff zeleny has more. jeff, first of all, the red line and the idea from the washington post that the lawyers or president trump talking about or looking into or trying to explore possible pardons. reporter: anderson, it s so interesting, it gives you a sense of how much detail and time the president and his attempt are spending on this, their agenda. this has in many respects consumed a lot of his schedule and time.
